Wildlands

I make black holes in a building in my backyard I mix it up in these little paper cups til I get it right When I pour ‘em out they float like tiny little clouds, the absence of light See I thought life would be so limitless and free, but now I don’t know me Black on black on black on black on black on black night. Distractions rain ‘til I can’t feel the pain that keeps me alive I’m gettin’ numb darlin’, feel dull and dumb I’m sorry I lost my tongue and my sense of balance Free-fallin’ flight See I thought life would be so limitless and free, but now I don’t know me Black on black on black on black on black on black night. Little black clouds I climb in Elevator down to a future life It always lasts longer than I’d like I booked a room in a black-walled cocoon I put me on ice I make black holes in a building in my backyard I follow them, I follow limb after limb until I’m tired I sleep in there Pipe in the air Run new wires Nobody knows me I’m invisible Black on black night. Black on black night. Black on black night. Black on black night. Black on black night. Black on black night. Black on black night. Black on black night. Black on black night. Black on black night. Black on black night.

Wake up, get dressed, work, REPEAT. Mix in what might pass for sleep. I'm wide awake. Oh, I'm wide awake. I end up staring at the walls. Off with my head, stuff it, hang me in the halls. I'm aware. I just don't care. I'm wide awake. I'm wide awake. Time: It moves so slow since you've been gone. Too soon you're numb from the pain. You'll wanna hurt, but you can't feel the blade. Go away. Go away. The endless procession of days. Time unrelenting like hurricane waves. They break. Oh, they break. Me? I'll be ok. Just not today. Time - it moves sooo slow since you've been gone. This must get easier, right? Yeah. Yeah, right... Oh boys, now don't be afraid. Who can be who can not be replaced? Who can not be replaced.

Just before the headlights break into the gloaming I will put my feet down. One after the other. Roaming round the old white beaches. I won't waste my time here. I don't know why I'm wrong. I just can't get my head right though I've tried for so long. Roaming round the old white beaches. Looking for a better reason than the ones I've seen myself. I can't get my head right. I don't want to show you. The old, white beaches. I'll be back before too long.

Stay close with your sweet heart. Stay low. Hang up your harp. I never wanna be alone or without you. Signs cease and wonders fall. Nothing here is new and, after all...I never wanna be alone or without you. Wild horses in the summertime. In a field that storms surround. Can we be like that forever? Can we ride it out?

If you know a place wild and free A place with the birds and a chorus of trees I'd like to go on a long holiday Take all our cares and our troubles away Ooh Aah La La La Li Love me the way that you'd like to be Love me the way that you'd like to be Stitches of light in a vanishing night Stars fading out as the day breaks their sight Tomorrow may come Tonight I just might find out a way to make this alright Ooh Aah La La La Li Love me the way that you'd like to be Love me the way that you'd like to be
