about

The oldest song I can remember writing that had not been recorded/pleased yet. I wrote this in a fever/flu/stupor in Bow-leg's backyard in South Carolina on a Legends of Rodeo tour. And it sounds like it.

Recorded/demo'd by Marc Ward at Elegbaland in Jan 2010 (I think) (though it must've been written in like 2000/2001?)

Jeff Snow came over the other day and we finished it. Interesting recording note. Usually, when I do BGV's there are layers. On this track there are 3 vocal tracks. All one-takes. So it has a very "live" feel. I think it sounds like the Oak Ridge Boys but what the hell do I know?

lyrics

Kitchen knives and electric lights / gonna open up your heart
it's too late tonight to put up a fight / i'm gonna tell you how it's gonna start: Maybe I'm gonna...Baby, I'm gonna be sweet to you.

Neon signs flood the midnight mines / you better watch out for my love
Immaculate mother of my crucified brother, better send her help down from above. Maybe I'm gonna...Baby, I'm gonna be sweet to you.

Open up your windows let the sunshine come on in. I'm gonna be there in the morning when you're rollin' over yawning saying': "Good morning, John. I love you."

Baby, I'm gonna be sweet to you. Maybe I'm gonna...Baby, I'm gonna be sweet to you.
